Iran’s FM Holds Regional Diplomatic Talks After Escalation in Lebanon
Iranian news agency said Araghchi first spoke with Pakistan’s army leadership, including Field Marshal Asim Munir, shortly after Iran launched missile strikes toward northern Israel in response to an Israeli airstrike on Beirut’s southern suburbs that reportedly killed and injured civilians.
Further calls followed with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot, as diplomatic efforts focused on managing the rapidly escalating situation.
The discussions reportedly centered on recent regional developments and Iran’s position that its actions were a response to repeated ceasefire violations in Lebanon by Israel.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry later confirmed that Araghchi also held a separate phone call with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, as regional actors continued to engage in urgent diplomatic coordination amid rising tensions.
