The condemnation followed a dramatic announcement by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which claimed early Thursday that it had struck 18 major US military targets — including positions at Ali Al Salem and Ahmad Al Jaber air bases in Kuwait, Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain, and a base in Jordan housing American fighter jets.
The escalating exchange unfolded in the wake of US strikes on southern Iran, after which Tehran declared the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to maritime traffic — a move with sweeping implications for global energy supply chains.
